Camping

Camping and health are practically synonymous. There is little doubt that being in the great outdoors is filled with health benefits and that camping is one of the best ways to get you there.
The word camping means different things to different people. To some, the word symbolizes backcountry tent and living off the land. Others prefer to tent camp in public campgrounds. Still others wouldn’t be caught camping outside of a 40-foot recreational vehicle with air conditioning and a microwave. But no matter what type of camping you prefer, it’s healthy.
Sunlight is a great source of Vitamin D. Humans spend far too much time indoors and out of the sunlight and as a result suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. Camping forces the issue of sunlight exposure and provides loads of fun while you’re doing it. Many camping trips revolve around the beach and the sun bathing that inevitably goes on.
A walk in the woods or along the shoreline will have extraordinary health benefits. Camping puts your heart to work pumping blood and providing oxygen to your body while removing impurities. Muscles expand and contract and gain tone and strength. Even a walk to the camp store can provide healthy benefits.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of camping to human health is relaxation. Most of us need exercise desperately but we often need mental relaxation even more. A change of pace is found lounging around the campfire or doing a little fishing. Stimulating mental health is of benefit to both the mind and the body.
Camping is healthy in many ways and the more you enjoy it, the more healthy it is.
